My parents owned a sporting goods store in South Bend, Indiana. It was the home of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and they were always the talk of the town. The idea was no one would be selling fall items in the spring so a Notre Dame sweatshirt sale would potentially bolster sales.

They had ordered over twenty-five thousand sweatshirts for the season past and still had over five thousand left in inventory. They had to come up with a good marketing scheme in order to sell off the remaining sweatshirts. My parents had to come up with a good idea and they had me go out and see it through while they stayed back and got ready for the Notre dame sweatshirt sale.

My first mission was to tape flyers all over campus telling the students about the Notre Dame sweatshirt sale. I even got my best friend to come along with me. By the time we got back to the store the place was packed out. My parents were swamped and everyone was there for the Notre Dame sweatshirt sale.
